Juana Inés de la Cruz

Juana Inés de la Cruz, also known as Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, was a self-taught scholar and poet of the Baroque school, and Hieronymite nun of New Spain. She was known for her poetry, plays, and philosophical writings. Her work often centered around themes of gender and the intellectual rights of women. Sor Juana is considered one of the first published feminists of the New World. She lived during the 17th century and is regarded as one of the most important literary figures of the Spanish Golden Age.
