Walter Ralegh

Sir Walter Raleigh was an English writer, poet, soldier, politician, courtier, spy, and explorer. He is well known for popularising tobacco in England and for his involvement in the English colonization of North America. Raleigh was also a notable author and poet, with works such as 'The Discovery of Guiana' and his incomplete epic poem 'The Ocean to Cynthia'. He lived during the Elizabethan era and was a favorite of Queen Elizabeth I before falling from grace and eventually being executed by King James I.
