Michael Thelwell

Michael Thelwell is a Jamaican-born author, professor, and activist. He is known for his novel 'The Harder They Come', which is based on the life of the Jamaican musician and outlaw, Ivanhoe 'Rhyging' Martin. Thelwell is also a founding member of the Department of Afro-American Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he has been a professor since the 1970s. His work often explores themes of race, politics, and culture.
