Gabriel Okara

Gabriel Okara was a renowned Nigerian poet and novelist often regarded as one of the pioneers of modern African literature. He was born on April 24, 1921, in Bumoundi in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria, and passed away on March 25, 2019. Okara's poetry is known for its rich and imaginative use of language and folkloric elements, as well as its exploration of African thought, identity, and existential questions.
