Edgar Bowers

Edgar Bowers was an American poet and academic. Born on March 2, 1924, in Rome, Georgia, he was known for his formalist verse and was associated with the mid-20th century group of poets sometimes called the 'West Coast poets.' Bowers' poetry is noted for its intellectual rigor, mastery of form, and moral seriousness. His most famous collection, 'The Form of Loss,' was highly regarded. He received various awards for his work, including the Bollingen Prize in Poetry. Bowers passed away on February 4, 2000.
