Ian Serraillier

Ian Serraillier was an English author and poet, best known for his children's books, particularly 'The Silver Sword' (1956), a wartime adventure story which has been adapted for television and radio. He was born on September 24, 1912, in London and educated at Brighton College and St Edmund Hall, Oxford. Serraillier worked as a teacher and began writing children's books during World War II. His work is noted for its clear prose and unpatronizing approach to addressing difficult and mature subject matter.
