Alexander Radishchev

Alexander Radishchev (1749–1802) was a Russian author and social critic who is often considered one of the precursors of Russian revolutionary thought. He is best known for his book 'Journey from St. Petersburg to Moscow,' which criticized the social and political system of Imperial Russia, particularly serfdom and the corruption of the nobility. His work was deemed so dangerous by the authorities that he was arrested and exiled to Siberia. Radishchev is recognized as an important figure in Russian literature and history, and his work had a significant influence on later generations of reformers and revolutionaries.
