This monograph is a seminal work in the field of photography, presenting a compelling collection of black-and-white images that capture the essence of the American social landscape during the 1950s and 1960s. The book showcases the photographer's groundbreaking approach to portraiture, which often focused on subjects from the fringes of society, including circus performers, transgender individuals, and people with unique physical attributes.
