Johann David Wyss

Johann David Wyss (1743–1818) was a Swiss author, best known for writing 'The Swiss Family Robinson' (1812). He was inspired by Daniel Defoe's 'Robinson Crusoe', but Wyss's work aimed to teach his four sons about family values, good husbandry, the uses of the natural world, and self-reliance. Wyss's educational background and interest in nature were reflected in his writing. 'The Swiss Family Robinson' has been adapted into movies, television series, and comics, becoming a beloved adventure story for generations.
