Armstrong Sperry

Armstrong Sperry (1897–1976) was an American author and illustrator of children's literature. He is best known for his adventure stories and historical fiction, particularly for his 1941 Newbery Medal-winning book 'Call It Courage', a story about a Polynesian boy who overcomes his fears. Sperry's work often reflects his interest in the sea and in different cultures, drawing on his own experiences traveling in the South Seas. His illustrations, characterized by their detail and accuracy, have also been highly praised.
