Madison Smartt Bell

Madison Smartt Bell is an American novelist, essayist, and educator known for his richly detailed narratives and diverse range of literary works. Born on August 1, 1957, in Nashville, Tennessee, he has authored numerous novels, including the highly acclaimed 'All Souls' Rising', which is part of a trilogy about the Haitian Revolution. Bell has received recognition for his writing, including nominations for the National Book Award and the PEN/Faulkner Award. In addition to his literary career, he has served as a professor of English and Director of the Kratz Center for Creative Writing at Goucher College.
