Johanna Spyri

Johanna Spyri was a Swiss author of children's stories, and is best known for her book 'Heidi'. Born on June 12, 1827, in Hirzel, Switzerland, she wrote a number of stories for children and adults, which were very popular in the late 19th century. Her stories have been translated into many languages and have been adapted into films and television series. Spyri's writing is known for its emphasis on the pastoral life and the innocence and resilience of children. She passed away on July 7, 1901, in Zurich, Switzerland.
