Clark Ashton Smith was an American writer, poet, and artist. He is best known for his contributions to the fantasy, horror, and science fiction genres and was one of the 'big three' of Weird Tales, alongside contemporaries H.P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard. Smith's work is noted for its lush, poetic prose and its blend of horror, fantasy, and science fiction. He was also a prolific poet and a member of the California Romantic movement.
