Friedrich Schlegel

Friedrich Schlegel was a German poet, literary critic, philosopher, philologist, and one of the founding figures of the German Romantic movement. Born on March 10, 1772, in Hanover, he is best known for his critical work 'Lucinde' and his contributions to the Athenaeum, a journal that became the organ of German Romanticism. Schlegel's philosophy emphasized the importance of history and the individual, and he had a significant influence on the development of Romanticism in Europe. He died on January 12, 1829, in Dresden.
