William Cullen Bryant

William Cullen Bryant was an American romantic poet, journalist, and long-time editor of the New York Evening Post. Born on November 3, 1794, and dying on June 12, 1878, he is best known for his early poem 'Thanatopsis,' and for his advocacy for abolition and other social issues of his time.
