Severo Sarduy

Severo Sarduy was a Cuban poet, author, playwright, and critic, known for his baroque style and his contributions to the Neo-Baroque aesthetic. He was born on February 25, 1937, in Camagüey, Cuba, and later moved to Paris in 1960, where he became a significant figure in Latin American literature. Sarduy's work is characterized by its linguistic innovation and exploration of themes such as sexuality, identity, and exile. He is also recognized for his studies on semiotics and his association with the Tel Quel group in France. Some of his notable works include 'Gestos' and 'Cobra'. Sarduy passed away on June 8, 1993.
