Zitkala-Sa

Zitkala-Sa, also known as Gertrude Simmons Bonnin, was a Native American writer, editor, musician, teacher, and political activist. She was born on February 22, 1876, on the Yankton Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Zitkala-Sa advocated for Native American rights and worked to preserve her cultural heritage. She is known for her collections of Native American stories, autobiographical writings, and her efforts in the early 20th century to lobby for citizenship and other rights for Native Americans.
