E. Pauline Johnson

E. Pauline Johnson, also known as Tekahionwake, was a Canadian writer and performer popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Born on March 10, 1861, she was of mixed English and Mohawk heritage, which influenced her poetry and performances. Johnson is best known for her poetry that celebrated her Indigenous heritage, and she was one of the first Native American authors to have her works published in Canada.
