Simin Daneshvar

Simin Daneshvar (1921–2012) was a renowned Iranian author, translator, and university professor. She is widely considered a significant figure in Persian literature and is best known for her novel 'Savushun,' which was the first major Persian novel written by a woman. The novel provides a critical perspective on Iranian society during the Second World War and the lead-up to the 1953 Iranian coup d'état. Daneshvar's work often explored themes of cultural identity, gender, and social dynamics within Iran.
