Restif de La Bretonne

Restif de La Bretonne, also known as Nicolas-Edme Rétif or Rétif de la Bretonne, was a French writer and novelist. Born on October 23, 1734, in Sacy, Burgundy, France, he was known for his prolific writing and for his detailed and observant chronicles of French society during the 18th century. His works often explored themes of sexuality, morality, and urban life. He is perhaps best known for his autobiographical novel 'Le Paysan perverti' (1776) and 'La Vie de mon père' (1779), which depicted the lives of the lower classes with a mix of realism and fantasy. He passed away on February 3, 1806, in Paris.
