Bernardin de Saint-Pierre

Jacques-Henri Bernardin de Saint-Pierre was a French writer and botanist known for his novel 'Paul et Virginie', a romantic tale set on the island of Mauritius, where he spent some time. He was born on January 19, 1737, and died on January 21, 1814. Bernardin's work reflects his interest in nature and human morality, and he was influenced by the philosophical ideas of Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
