Amélie Rives Troubetzkoy

Amélie Rives Troubetzkoy was an American author born on August 23, 1863, in Richmond, Virginia. She was best known for her first novel, 'The Quick or the Dead?', which was controversial for its time due to its frank portrayal of female sexuality. A prominent figure in the literary world of the late 19th century, Amélie was also known for her tumultuous personal life, including her marriage to Prince Pierre Troubetzkoy, a Russian artist. She continued to write novels, plays, and poetry until her death on June 15, 1945.
