Francis Edward Smedley

Francis Edward Smedley was an English novelist known for his work in the mid-19th century. Born on October 4, 1818, in Great Marlow, Buckinghamshire, England, he is best remembered for his novel 'Frank Fairlegh' (1850), which was initially serialized in 'Sharpe's London Magazine' before being published in book form. His other notable works include 'Lewis Arundel' and 'The Fortunes of the Colville Family'. Smedley's writing often featured elements of humor and social commentary. He died at a young age on May 1, 1864, in London.
