Iwan A. Jefremow

Iwan Antonowitsch Jefremow (Russian: Иван Антонович Ефремов), born October 22, 1908, and died October 5, 1972, was a Soviet paleontologist and science fiction author. He is best known for his contributions to the science fiction genre, particularly for his works that combine scientific knowledge with the exploration of philosophical and societal themes. His most famous novel, 'Andromeda: A Space-Age Tale', reflects his vision of a future utopian society. Jefremow also made significant contributions to paleontology and is remembered for his development of taphonomy, the study of how organisms decay and become fossilized.
