Norman Holmes Pearson

Norman Holmes Pearson (1909–1975) was an influential American academic, critic, and scholar. He played a significant role in the development of American Studies as an academic discipline in the United States. Pearson was also known for his work in intelligence during World War II and his contributions to the study of American literature, particularly for his efforts in promoting the works of American writers and poets. He taught at Yale University, where he was instrumental in establishing the American Studies program.
