Alistair Cooke

Alistair Cooke was a British-American journalist, television personality, and broadcaster. Born in Manchester, England, in 1908, he became widely known as the host of PBS's 'Masterpiece Theatre' from 1971 until 1992 and for his BBC radio series 'Letter from America', which he presented for over 50 years. Cooke was renowned for his insightful and eloquent commentary on American life and culture.
