Jean de Brunhoff

Jean de Brunhoff was a French writer and illustrator known for creating the beloved children's book series 'Babar the Elephant.' Born on December 9, 1899, in Paris, he developed the stories of Babar after his wife, Cécile, invented the character to entertain their children. The first book, 'Histoire de Babar,' was published in 1931. Jean de Brunhoff published six more Babar books before his untimely death in 1937. His work was continued by his son, Laurent de Brunhoff, who kept the spirit of Babar alive for future generations.
