Vyasa

Vyasa, also known as Maharishi Vyasa, is a legendary sage and one of the most revered figures in Hindu traditions. He is traditionally known as the author of the Mahabharata, one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India, and is also credited with compiling the Vedas and writing the eighteen Puranas. Vyasa is also considered to be one of the seven Chiranjivi (immortal beings in Hindu belief). His birth is celebrated as Guru Purnima by Hindus every year. The exact historical details of Vyasa's life are unclear, as his character is enveloped in myth and legend.
