Richard Pipes

Richard Pipes was a Polish-American historian who specialized in Russian history, particularly the Soviet Union. He was born on July 11, 1923, in Cieszyn, Poland, and died on May 17, 2018. Pipes served as the Baird Professor of History at Harvard University, where he taught from 1958 until his retirement in 1996. He was known for his critical approach to the Soviet regime and his influence on American policy during the Cold War. His works include 'Russia Under the Bolshevik Regime' and 'The Russian Revolution.'
