Madame de La Fayette

Madame de La Fayette, born Marie-Madeleine Pioche de La Vergne, was a French writer, best known for her novel 'La Princesse de Clèves', which is widely regarded as one of the earliest psychological novels and a classic of French literature. She was born on March 18, 1634, and died on May 25, 1693. Her work is known for its exploration of the inner lives of its characters and its subtle criticism of the French aristocracy.
