Bernard A. DeVoto

Bernard Augustine DeVoto was an American historian, critic, editor, and author, known for his books on American history and his championing of Western literature. He won the Pulitzer Prize for History in 1948 for his book 'Across the Wide Missouri,' and he was also known for his column 'The Easy Chair' in Harper's Magazine. DeVoto's works often focused on the American West and he was a staunch defender of public lands and the conservation of America's natural resources.
