James Ford Rhodes

James Ford Rhodes (1848–1927) was an American industrialist and historian. He is best known for his work on the history of the United States during the Civil War era. His most famous work is the seven-volume 'History of the United States from the Compromise of 1850,' which won a Pulitzer Prize for history. Rhodes was not a professional historian by training, but his meticulous work is considered a cornerstone in American historiography.
