Henry M. Stanley

Henry Morton Stanley (1841–1904) was a Welsh-American journalist and explorer famous for his exploration of central Africa and his search for missionary and explorer David Livingstone. Upon finding Livingstone, Stanley reportedly asked, 'Dr. Livingstone, I presume?' Stanley's expeditions through the uncharted African territory led to significant discoveries and mapping of the region, including the Congo River, which played a key role in the colonization of the continent. He is also known for his controversial association with King Leopold II of Belgium and the Congo Free State.
