William H. Goetzmann

William H. Goetzmann (July 20, 1930 – September 7, 2010) was an American historian and author. He was well-known for his contributions to the field of American history and the history of the American West. Goetzmann won the Pulitzer Prize for History in 1967 for his book 'Exploration and Empire: The Explorer and the Scientist in the Winning of the American West'.
