William Allen White

William Allen White was a renowned American newspaper editor, author, and political leader. Born on February 10, 1868, in Emporia, Kansas, he became the owner and editor of the Emporia Gazette. White was influential in his support for progressive politics and was a friend and supporter of President Theodore Roosevelt. He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1923 for his editorial 'To an Anxious Friend,' and his autobiography also received a Pulitzer posthumously in 1947. White was a significant voice in American journalism until his death on January 29, 1944.
