Lewis B. Puller

Lewis B. Puller was a U.S. Marine Corps officer who served in the Vietnam War. He is best known for his autobiography 'Fortunate Son: The Healing of a Vietnam Vet,' for which he received the Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography in 1992. Puller was severely wounded in the war, leading to the amputation of both legs and parts of his hands. His book details his experiences in Vietnam, his challenging recovery, and his personal battles with depression and alcoholism. Lewis B. Puller is also notable for being the son of Lieutenant General Lewis 'Chesty' Puller, one of the most decorated members of the Marine Corps.
