Djuna Barnes

Djuna Barnes was an American writer and artist best known for her novel 'Nightwood' (1936), a cult classic of lesbian literature and an important work of modernist literature. Born on June 12, 1892, in Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York, she played an important role in the bohemian scenes of Paris and New York in the early 20th century. Her work is known for its complexity, dark humor, and exploration of sexuality and gender. She died on June 18, 1982.
