Lew Wallace

Lew Wallace was a 19th-century American author, best known for his novel 'Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ' (1880), which has been called 'the most influential Christian book of the nineteenth century.' Wallace's career included service as a Union general in the American Civil War, governor of the New Mexico Territory, and U.S. minister to the Ottoman Empire.
