Gerda Weissmann Klein

Gerda Weissmann Klein is a Polish-born American writer and human rights activist. Her autobiography, 'All But My Life' (1957), recounts her experiences as a survivor of the Holocaust, including the loss of her family and her ordeal during a six-month death march. In 1995, a documentary based on her life, 'One Survivor Remains', won an Academy Award. Klein has dedicated much of her life to Holocaust education and human rights, receiving numerous awards for her work, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011.
