Leopold Von Sacher-Masoch

Leopold Von Sacher-Masoch was an Austrian writer and journalist, known for his romantic stories of Galician life. Born on January 27, 1836, in Lemberg, Austrian Empire (now Lviv, Ukraine), he was the namesake of the term 'masochism', derived from his novel 'Venus in Furs', which depicted the concept of consensual pain and submissiveness as pleasure. His literary work often explored power dynamics and unconventional sexual desires, which was considered controversial at the time. Sacher-Masoch passed away on March 9, 1895.
