Anna Sewell

Anna Sewell was an English novelist, best known as the author of the classic novel 'Black Beauty'. Born on March 30, 1820, in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, Sewell's work is considered one of the earliest books written in the animal's perspective and is credited with contributing to the improvement of horse welfare. 'Black Beauty', published in 1877, was her first and only novel, as she passed away five months after its publication on April 25, 1878. The book has become one of the best-selling books of all time and has had a significant impact on the treatment of horses and the view of animal welfare in general.
