Wilson Rawls

Wilson Rawls was an American author best known for his books 'Where the Red Fern Grows' and 'Summer of the Monkeys'. Born on September 24, 1913, in the Ozark Mountains of Oklahoma, he spent much of his youth listening to the storytelling of his relatives, which inspired his own writing. Despite a lack of formal education and struggles with literacy, Rawls eventually taught himself to write. 'Where the Red Fern Grows' is particularly celebrated for its depiction of a young boy's relationship with his two hunting dogs during the Great Depression. Rawls's work is often noted for its themes of determination and perseverance, as well as its emotional depth and appeal to both children and adults. He passed away on December 16, 1984.
