Albert Murray

Albert Murray was an American literary and jazz critic, novelist, essayist, and biographer. Born on May 12, 1916, in Nokomis, Alabama, he was known for his writings on culture, music, and identity. Murray's works often explored the influence of black American culture on the broader American identity. His notable books include 'The Omni-Americans', 'South to a Very Old Place', and 'Stomping the Blues'. He was also a co-founder of the Jazz at Lincoln Center program. Murray passed away on August 18, 2013.
