Federico De Roberto

Federico De Roberto was an Italian writer, best known for his novel 'I Viceré' (The Viceroys), which was published in 1894. Born on January 16, 1861, in Naples, De Roberto began his career as a journalist before turning to fiction. His work is often associated with the Verismo movement, an Italian literary movement akin to Naturalism, which sought to depict life as it was, with a focus on the everyday lives of lower and middle-class individuals. De Roberto's writing is characterized by its detailed psychological analysis and critique of Sicilian society and the Italian political landscape of his time. He passed away on July 26, 1927, in Catania, Sicily.
