Pauline Reage

Pauline Reage is the pseudonym of Anne Desclos, a French author and journalist. She is best known for her erotic novel 'Story of O' (Histoire d'O), published in 1954, which caused much controversy due to its explicit themes of BDSM and submission. Desclos initially wrote the book as a series of love letters to her lover, Jean Paulhan, who had admired the work of the Marquis de Sade. The book's publication was met with both acclaim and outrage, and for many years, the identity of Pauline Reage was kept a secret. Desclos publicly admitted to being the author of 'Story of O' in 1994, four years before her death.
