David I. Kertzer

David I. Kertzer is an American anthropologist and historian who specializes in Italian history, politics, and society. He is also known for his work on the relationship between religion, particularly Catholicism, and politics. Kertzer has received numerous awards for his scholarship, including the Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography for his book 'The Pope and Mussolini: The Secret History of Pius XI and the Rise of Fascism in Europe'.
