Arnold Toynbee

Arnold Toynbee was a British historian, philosopher of history, and author of numerous books. He is best known for his 12-volume analysis of the rise and fall of civilizations, 'A Study of History', published from 1934 to 1961. Toynbee's comprehensive work examines the growth and decay of world civilizations and their relationship to their environment, challenging the notion that history is a random series of events.
