St. John of the Cross

St. John of the Cross was a Spanish mystic, Catholic saint, Carmelite friar, and a priest who was born in 1542 and died in 1591. He is renowned for his writings on the soul's union with God and is considered one of the greatest poets in the Spanish language. His most famous works include 'Dark Night of the Soul' and 'Ascent of Mount Carmel'. St. John of the Cross is also known for his reform of the Carmelite Order and his collaboration with St. Teresa of Ávila.
