Mateo Alemán

Mateo Alemán was a Spanish novelist and writer, best known for his novel 'Guzmán de Alfarache', which is considered a masterpiece of Spanish picaresque literature. Born in Seville in 1547, Alemán was educated at the universities of Alcalá and Salamanca. His work provides a satirical and moralizing view of contemporary Spanish society. Alemán's influence on the picaresque genre and Spanish literature is significant, and his novel has been translated into several languages. He died in 1614 or 1615, with some uncertainty regarding the exact year.
