Vernor Vinge

Vernor Vinge is an American retired professor of mathematics, computer scientist, and science fiction author. He is best known for his Hugo Award-winning novels and novellas, including 'A Fire Upon the Deep', 'A Deepness in the Sky', and 'Rainbows End'. Vinge is credited with originating the concept of the technological singularity, a hypothetical point in the future when technological growth becomes uncontrollable and irreversible, resulting in unforeseeable changes to human civilization.
